![]() The second and third books in this series were definitely released after the YA craze took over the publishing world. When that happened, much more attention was paid to the covers because, just admit it, beautiful covers sell more books. Not that there is anything wrong with the cover but it’s clear that this book was released just before the YA genre took off. It seemed strange that we didn’t own it but when it arrived I figured out why we didn’t own it by just seeing the cover. ![]() When I set out to read this book, I discovered that my library doesn’t actually own the first book in the series so I had to request it through Interlibrary Loan. In addition, I hope I’ll get my sense of closure so I can move on from one series to the next. Lucky for me, most of the books have been released which means that while I’ll have to devote some time to get through all the books, I’ll also have the pleasure of having that sense of fulfillment you only get when you don’t have to wait for the next book to be published. ![]() I finally decided I was going to hit a bunch of the series that have been sitting on my list waiting to be read. ![]() ![]() This is one of those series that’s been on my “To Read” list for quite some time. ![]() ![]() The way it works and what it does to people (I don’t want to spoil anything by saying too much!) was quite shocking and just the thought of it made my hair stand on end. Perhaps the most creepy part of all is the Carousel that comes with the Carnival. ![]() He is scared when he sees the Carnival being assembled, while his friend Jim feels attracted by it. Will has a bad feeling and thinks something quite awful is going to happen. However, there is something strange about it because it is quite late in the year for that, as it is already October. The whole town is excited because a carnival is coming. “Something Wicked this Way Comes” tells the story of James Nightshade and William Halloway, two teenager friends who live next to each other in Green Town, Illinois. In addition, it has taken me forever to finish this review, as I felt somehow sad I didn’t enjoy the story so much as I expected… THE STORY However, although I enjoyed the book, I was somehow disappointed by it. Furthermore, some years ago I read one of the most beloved books by Bradbury, “ Fahrenheit 451” and it became one of my favourite books ever. I knew, before start reading it, that it is considered a classic of the fantasy genre. I must say this book has left me quite confused. “Evil has only the power that we give it”. ![]() ![]() ![]() Our recommended activities are based on age but these are a guide. The overall ship's hull was shaped like a long, thin arrowhead hull. It was considered the second largest of the standard Star Dreadnought line (with only the Executor-class being larger), as well as the largest in the Imperial Navy in a family that included the Mandator- and Bellator-class ships. The Assertor-class Star Dreadnought was 15 kilometers long and had a hull-shape similar to the Executor-class Star Dreadnought, being primarily shaped like an arrowhead. Maybe I’ve just outgrown the Shadowhunter books at this point. (Not to mention, Cassie never takes the trouble to distinguish the voice of each POV.) ![]() All the many POVs and subplots felt discordant. I was bored reading, because the plot was so painfully slow. Imagine the excitement as you are handed this delicious treat, and then when that pink fairy floss meets your tongue, your happiness melts away into nothing-nothing but insubstantial spun sugar. Imagine pausing by the fairy floss vendor, your eyes wide, watching as a wooden stick is swirled around and becomes a delicious pink fluffy delicacy before your very eyes. Imagine going to a carnival, walking through the magnificent sights and inhaling the smells of delicious food. I was so unbelievably, jumping-off-the-walls excited for Chain of Gold, but it was a huge and bitter disappointment. ![]() ![]() Then I wonder about how awful my calligraphy will look. I’ve been toying with the idea of learning calligraphy as a new practice in mindfulness. “ Do I start with ‘I?’ Is that too selfish, am I not being humble?
